Essential Question: What education and skills are needed and beneficial to succeed in topics of study at the university level and in careers that you deem engaging and worthwhile? The things I will need to be successful get my bachelor and then master. Bachelor in child and adolescent development (CHAD) while working on getting my bachelor in education. The skills that will be beneficial are time management, ability to work under pressure, and self-motivation. I will need to time management because throughout my years of high school I have not been that good at this but in college/university I will need to have this because I will have lots of class. I’ll need to fighter out a schedule on how I will work on dividing my class work up, seeing what is due first to do. Ability to work under pressure is a big one in college/university because there is going to be times where you there is a lot of school work and due in short time of working. Having a test can be a part of this because you will take notes and then study for the test trying to remember to do good on the test. Self-motivation will take a huge part for me because I let things get in the way and it stops me from doing good in school. I'll need to push myself in taking as many classes as I can to finish as quick as I can. My grades and SAT will plan a role in applying for university. I will need to get my SAT score up to get in to the university I want to apply to. For my career day I shadow a teacher because that's what I want to study. Something that helps me in learning is focusing on one thing and once I'm well force on that one thing I force on another. Once I'm done forcing on a sound that is calming I take a breath in and start working again. Interview: Chapman University How can Chapman help me in my career of wanting to go into teaching? Chapman has a program where I can do my undergrad and teaching credentials. In five years I can get my master and be working on my bachelor and with that I can get some experience on teaching. There is an elementary two blocks down and they have some kids go for the students wanting to be teacher and get some experience.
Safety School: Mira Costa College This is my safety because because it's a community school and my plans are going two years to a community college then transfer to Cal State San Marcos. Mira Costa offers multiple-subject and single-subject teaching credentials, as well as helping students in making career choices. They help in a way of telling you what they recommended for students that are planning to transfer to CSU to earn a multiple subject credential. (grades K-6) Students that are planning to earn a bachelor's degree and teaching credential should meet with a MiraCosta counselor as early as the first semester to identify courses that will meet requirements for their intended major and transfer institution. Degree in Mira Costa College is an A.A. in liberal studies: Elementary (multiple subject) teaching preparation.
Fit School:Cal State San Marcos For my fit school, I chose California State University- San Marcos. Cal State San Marcos is my fit school because from Mira Costa College I will have met/taken some of the classes that are a requirement for the intended major. The acceptance rate for Cal State San Marcos is 52% so it’s a bit more than half of 100%. I can earn my bachelors and masters during the same time. For my bachelors I will get my (CHAD) and with this the careers I will get is a daycare, teacher, preschool, and ect. For my masters I will be working on my teaching but I will decide what I will be teaching.
Reach School: Chapman University Chapman University is my reach school because they have a high SAT score as well as the gpa. The average gpa is a 3.82 and the average SAT score is 1236. I will need to work on my gpa but most importantly is my SAT score. They have a really good education program. Their education program is a five year program, where you can work with the local elementary. Their acceptance rate is 47% but it's also a private school. The student-to-faculty ratio is 14 to 1.
